September 10th-A Fun Day

September 10^th was a fun day. Nora was asked to give a presentation to the children and the UU Congregation. Being “Grandparents Day”, her book Grumpy Grandpa Dinosaur was perfect for the occasion. Nora recited the book in English (in quite an animated fashion I might add) as Jerome Diáz Espinoza read to the kids in Spanish. It was very well received. Jerome was awesome. After the service, during coffee hour, we showed all of Nora’s books to the congregation and explained our mission of distributing them to campo schools. We made an effort to explain to whoever would listen that we try to raise funds to pay for supplies by reaching out to interested people. We have established a retail price for those living here in Mexico. Our pricing is essentially 50% of the landed cost if one was to order from Amazon and have them delivered here. This method would give everyone the opportunity to own the books as well as contributing to our mission. For those in the States, ordering directly off Amazon would be the most economical. However, through Amazon, Nora received very little in royalties. Nora and I have decided, beginning in October, to have a once a month open house to promote her books as well as sell other items on behalf of the UUFSMA Social Justice Foundation.
